Several members of Gateway Technical College’s Collegiate DECA team took home honors at the International Career Development Conference held April 17-April 22 in Orlando, Fla.

Jake Fedrigon (Racine) took first place in the Project Management category of the event which draws college student competitors from across the United States and even other nations.

Many other Gateway students took honors, too.

Gateway students were named as Top 10 finalists in two events:

  • Business-to-Business Marketing – Rachel Reuter (Racine) and Rachel Gauss (Sturtevant)
  • Human Resources Management – Adrian Laluz (Kenosha)

Gateway students were named as Top 12 finalists in six events:

  • Sales Manager Meeting – Mary Gonzalez (Racine)
  • Entrepreneurship Growing a Business – Bruce Townsel (Kenosha)
  • Entrepreneurship Starting a Business – Maggie Ruet (Burlington)
  • Financial Statement Analysis – Ryan Billot (Whitewater) and Kayla Decker (Sharon)
  • Retail Management – Jordan Woylnik (Kenosha)
  • Restaurant Food and Service Simulation – Aaron Cole (Kenosha)

Several Gateway students were honored with leadership awards, which include:

  • 2014-15 Chapter Leadership Award winners, Gold Level: Brandy Hickey (Kenosha), Serena Jones (Kenosha), Maggie Ruet (Burlington), Erica Pitner (Burlington), Christopher Shogren (Kenosha), Lindsey Brieske (Racine), David Czuper (Racine), Jeanne Gomez (Racine) and Mary Hvizdak (Sturtevant).
  • 2014-15 Chapter Leadership Award winners, Blue Level: Aaron Cole (Kenosha) and Kayla Decker (Sharon).
  • 2014-15 Individual Academic Passport Award winners: Lindsay Brieske (Racine), David Czuper (Racine), Mary Hvizdak (Sturtevant), Brandy Hickey (Kenosha), Magnolia Ruet (Burlington).

The following are the awards that the Gateway Collegiate DECA students were awarded, as a group:

  • 2014-15 Chapter Passport Awards, Presidential Level, to Elkhorn Campus Chapter, Racine Campus Chapter and Kenosha Campus Chapter.
  • 2014-15 Chapter Community Service Award: Elkhorn Campus Chapter, Racine Campus Chapter and Kenosha Campus Chapter.
