Gateway Technical College will hold its annual Women in Manufacturing event 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 22 at its SC Johnson iMET Center, 2320 Renaissance Blvd., Sturtevant. The event is a forum designed to introduce women to the number of rich and family-sustaining careers in manufacturing.

The event provides a way to explore careers fields which are not traditionally held by women but have great earning potential, such as computer numeric control operator, advanced manufacturing technician, mechanical technician and electrical service technician. In addition, this year’s event has expanded to include the construction trades industries such as electrician and carpentry.

The event keynote will be Heather Paulen of Silgan Containers. It will also include a panel discussion on women in manufacturing made up of employers, another panel discussion made up of employees as well as a manufacturing expo which will include more than a dozen hands-on activities.
