Congratulations!

We’re so proud you’re joining Gateway’s Red Hawk family as a Gateway Promise student, and are here to help your transition from high school to college as smooth as possible.

Some of the benefits of choosing Gateway as a Promise student include:

  • Up to six semesters (two per academic year) with up to 18 credits each semester tuition-free. (Worth $10,500!)
  • Participation in student clubs, academic and career planning workshops and service learning opportunities to boost your resume and give you professional experience.
  • State-of-the-art facilities, classrooms and technology
  • One-on-one support with a Gateway Promise Coordinator and helpful Student Services and Learning Success Teams

Your responsibilities as a Promise student include:

  • Maintaining full-time status as a student (12 credits or more)
  • Maintaining at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Participating in academic and career planning workshops, service learning opportunities and student clubs.
  • Participating in the Summer Bridge program the summer before you begin at Gateway.

Here are your next steps in the program to ensure you have all the information you need as a new Gateway Promise student:

  • Summer Bridge:
This three-day experience runs all day during the first week of August to help you get comfortable at Gateway. You’ll learn your Strengths, develop study skills, finalize your Financial Aid and explore student life and campus resources. You’ll also have the chance to get to know Gateway and your fellow Promise students better, so you can move forward with attaining your goals.
  • After the Summer Bridge, but before the semester begins:
Log in to My Gateway to check your fall schedule and financial aid status, visit campus to make sure you know where to find your classes and join the Promise program Facebook group.
  • During the semester:
You’ll gain plenty of one-on-one support coaching and have opportunities to become a leader on campus through exciting opportunities like United Student Government, student clubs, study abroad, service learning and much more.

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you as a Gateway Red Hawk!
