All petitioning correspondence will be sent to your Gateway student email.

Petitioning is used for programs with limited seats in core courses. The petition process is the method that students follow to tell Gateway Technical College when they are ready and prepared to move forward with the core program courses. Petitioning students must meet certain eligibility requirements as specified by their program to be able to submit a petition. Once all program petition requirements are met, seats are awarded based on program acceptance date and residency status at the time of petition. Those with earlier acceptance dates and Gateway district residents (Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties) have first priority.

To review your program’s petitioning requirements and your progress in meeting these requirements, log in to My Gateway and select the Student Petitions Card. Then select the program in which you want to submit a petition, and select the semester you would begin your core program courses.
