This preparatory program helps all students—including individuals from underrepresented groups—develop skills in math, blueprint reading, communication and professionalism that provide a solid foundation for a manufacturing apprenticeship and career.
At the completion of this pre-apprenticeship program, students will:
- Be prepared to enroll in registered apprenticeship programs
- Begin a career in an entry-level manufacturing position
- Have experience and preparation for job interviews through a mock interviewing practice
- Possess strong soft skills such as time management, communication, teamwork and responsibility
Proposed Pre-Apprenticeship
To help fill critical manufacturing positions, Gateway Technical College is working to launch an Industrial Maintenance Pre-Apprenticeship training program. The College is currently seeking support from local companies. Your support does not commit you to providing on-the-job training. Companies will be asked to take part in mock interviews with students as well as consider hiring apprenticeship candidates or having an apprenticeship program of your own.
