If you enjoy working with your hands, a career as a press set-up operator could be just the right fit for you. In this apprenticeship, you’ll learn to set up and operate power presses to trim, punch, shape, notch and crimp metal, composite and plastic. In addition, you’ll gain hands-on experience assembling, installing and aligning dies in the press.

Qualifications
You must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to physically perform the work, handle loud noises and have a valid driver’s license.
Get started as a Press Set-Up Operator Apprentice
Finding an apprenticeship is very similar to a typical job search; openings are sometimes listed online, or you can seek an employer who is willing to hire you as an apprentice. Apply directly to the employer’s hiring office.

Once your contract is in place, Gateway’s Apprenticeship department will communicate with you regarding registration, classes and books.
