This course builds on the principles taught in the SMAW classes and provides instruction on the skills necessary for the pipe welding industry. The fundamentals of pipe fit-up, preparation, tacking, and electrode selection for both ASME and API standards will be covered. Students will perform open butt SMAW welding with E6010, E7018 electrodes in 2G, 5G and 6G positions. The course will focus on safely performing work and the necessary qualifications required for the pipe welding environment.
