Dominic A. Cariello, director of manufacturing and operations for the Flow Instrumentation Group of Badger Meter Inc., will deliver the keynote address at Gateway Technical College’s Associate Degree and Technical Diploma Class of 2015 Commencement 7 p.m. May 19 at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Sports and Activity Center, 900 Wood Road, Kenosha.
Other commencement highlights include the presentation of the 2015 Gateway Technical College Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award, which will be awarded to Tom Christensen.
Christensen is a 1987 graduate of Gateway Technical College’s Police Science program. He is the administrator for the Village of Caledonia.
Bryan Albrecht, Gateway president and CEO, will deliver the welcome address. Zaida Hernandez-Irisson, a graduate of the Electrical Engineering Technology-Biomedical Engineering program, will provide the student response.
Cariello is responsible for all of Badger Meter Inc.’s manufacturing and operations of various flow instrumentation and construction equipment in Racine, Tulsa and Scottsdale.
Cariello has held numerous positions during his tenure at RFI and Badger Meter while rising to his current position, including: engineering and technical services, and facility and safety manager; corporate quality assurance manager; corporate liaison for new acquisitions; general manager of the Blancett division; general manager of the Wyco Tool division; operations manager for the Racine flow instrumentation and Wyco Tool divisions; general manager for the Racine and Tulsa operations; and, then, director of manufacturing and operations.
Cariello also served in the Reserves and Wisconsin Army National Guard for more than 31 years, retiring as a brigadier general. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from UW-Parkside and a Master of Strategic Studies Degree from the United States Army War College.
Christensen, this year’s Distinguished Alumni, worked at the Racine Police Department for 33 years, serving in many positions before ending his career that as deputy chief. Tom was an adjunct instructor at Gateway in its Police Science program served as the Racine County Communications Department director before his current position as administrator.
Christensen holds a bachelor’s degree from Carthage College in Criminal Justice, and a master’s degree in Public Administration from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
