News Release:

Gateway Technical College will hold its annual Student Design Show and public reception and awards ceremony 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. May 5 at the SC Johnson iMET Center, 2320 Renaissance Blvd, Sturtevant.

The show, which has been held for more than 21 years, features creative and innovative design work by Graphic Design students and is juried by local industry professionals. Many of the past participants have gone on to very successful careers in graphic design.

The work will be displayed at the SC Johnson iMET Center from May 11 to May 18.

"It's a chance for the students and their supporters – their families, their friends, and, in many cases, their employers – to get together and celebrate the hard work they've done this year,” said Graphic Communications instructor Peter Pham.

“Students get to have their work judged by folks from business and industry and instructors do not participate in any of the judging. This allows them some experiences with the business community outside of Gateway.”

Pham said the show also provides an opportunity for the community to see the work of students and the college’s program.

“The greater community gets a chance to see what the Graphic Design program at Gateway Technical College is all about,” said Pham. “We’ve had folks from the region bring in high school students – as well as people working in the field – to see what the Gateway students are doing, as well as check out some of the online portfolios.”

All the work will be featured at the show’s website.
