Section 18004(a)(1) of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) provides funding to assist institutions with covering costs associated with significant changes to the delivery of instruction due to the coronavirus. Gateway was awarded a total $14,649,821 in institutional funding under HEERF I (The CARES Act), HEERF II (The Coronavirus Response & Relief Supplementary Appropriations Act), and HEERF III (The American Recovery Act)
- Gateway Technical College signed and returned the Certification and Agreement for the Institutional Portion of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Formula Grants authorized by Section 18004(a)(1) of the Cares Act to the U.S. Department of Education on April 21, 2020.
- Total expenses incurred as of June 30, 2023 under this section of the act is $14,649,821. Those expenses include such items as instructional resources to transition to online delivery, technology purchases to support hybrid learning, Wi-Fi hotspots, expansion of Wi-Fi, PPE, cleaning equipment, instructional equipment and software, additional teaching and support staff, costs to add additional class sections, student debt relief, student and staff vaccine incentives, recovery of lost revenues, campus safety and operations.
Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP)
Section 18004(a)(2) of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) provided additional funds to institutions under the Strengthening Institutions Program to directly address the college’s needs related to the coronavirus. Gateway was awarded a total $1,072,801 in institutional funding under HEERF I (The CARES Act), HEERF II (The Coronavirus Response & Relief Supplementary Appropriations Act), and HEERF III (The American Recovery Act)
- Gateway Technical College signed and returned the Certification and Agreement for the Strengthening Institutions Program Portion of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Grants authorized by Section 18004(a)(2) of the Cares Act to the U.S. Department of Education on April 30, 2020.
- Total expenses incurred as of June 30, 2023, is $1,072,801. Those expenses include recovery of lost revenues, student support, additional teaching and support staff payroll costs and other institutional uses.
