Elkhorn Campus to hold a number of activities
Gateway Technical College continues to broaden its popular communitywide Celebrate Earth Day event this year to include even more activities and ways community members can be gentle on the environment at work and home.
The event will be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 23 at its Elkhorn Campus, 400 County Road H, featuring a number of earth-friendly activities, a gardener’s swap, informational booths, children’s crafts and wagon rides.

Some of the events on the Elkhorn Campus include:
- Demonstrations: Bee Friendly and Valley of the Kings.
- Children’s activities. Wild Theater presented by the Milwaukee County Zoo and Kohl’s; petting zoo; Earth Day scavenger hunt; planting flowers for Mother’s Day; Earth-friendly crafts; and an outdoor fitness challenge.
- Informational booths. Non-profit environmental organizations will answer questions and offer general information, including a butterfly display.
- Recycle. Materials which can be dropped off include batteries, cell phones, ink cartridges/toner, prescription eye glasses.
- Gardener’s swap. Meet others while exchanging extra seeds, seedlings, cuttings or division of plants (annual, perennial, house plant and bulbs), tools, containers, garden art, garden magazines, books and more. Items must be clearly labeled. Participants will be given on ticket per item, and they can then exchange tickets for items they wish to have.
- Door prizes and giveaways.
