Gateway Technical College’s student chapter of dig.IT will hold another of its popular public computer repair clinics, this time March 8 and March 9 in Room 102 of the conference center on the Racine Campus, 1001 S. Main St.
This will mark the second clinic held this semester.
Those interested in the clinic should use the northeast entrance (Door 21) off of Pershing Blvd., near the skate park.
Computer and device check-in will be held 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 8.
Computer pickup will also be in Room 102 of the conference center on the Racine Campus, 9 a.m. to noon, March 9.
Computers will be accepted for repair on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached. Students can assist with the following:
- Update PC operating systems.
- Check for viruses and malware.
- Diagnose internet connectivity issues.
- Optimize computer function.
- Perform Windows upgrades (if computer hardware is compatible).
Computer owners will receive a text or call when their device is ready.
The clinic is a fundraiser for the student Information Technology club. Participants are encouraged to contribute $20 for each computer or device worked on.
Money raised helps pay for students to participate in state- and national-level information technology competitions. The event also allows students to give back to the community while honing the skills they will use in their future careers.
