Agreement provides pathway to innovative technology degree
Gateway Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Stout signed two articulation agreements today at Gateway’s Racine Campus. The agreements will provide Gateway students earning an associate degree in two specific programs the ability to transfer their credits to UW-Stout and earn a bachelor’s degree within a year.
Qualified Gateway Electrical Engineering Technology and Advanced Manufacturing Technology graduates will now have the option to transfer their credits into UW-Stout’s Automation Leadership degree program. The first-of-its-kind online degree program develops students’ skills in management, leadership and quality improvement in such manufacturing areas as automation systems, Industry 4.0 systems and digital transformation projects.
“Gateway Technical College is excited to partner with the University of Wisconsin-Stout in this articulation agreement,” said Gateway Technical College President and CEO Ritu Raju. “Our goal is to offer our students many different opportunities to continue their educational journey.
“This agreement provides graduates the ability to transfer into UW-Stout's Automation Leadership program which can be completed online. Our students can gain training in automation leadership in addition to the advanced manufacturing and electrical engineering skills they’ve learned at Gateway. This partnership, like all our direct admissions agreements, represents a win-win for students and families in Southeastern Wisconsin.”
UW-Stout Chancellor Katherine P. Frank was on hand at the Gateway Board of Trustees meeting today to sign the agreement.
“The signing of today’s articulation agreement with Gateway Technical College exemplifies our shared commitment to innovation, technology and student success. As Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University, UW-Stout proudly welcomes future leaders into our B.S. Automation Leadership program, a first-of-its-kind degree program,” said Frank.
“The articulation agreements create seamless pathways for students to transfer their two-year degree and up to as many as 88 credits in areas such as automation and mechatronics to a B.S. degree in Automation Leadership through UW-Stout, which may be completed entirely online.
“UW-Stout is proud of our transfer pathways that promote student success and grateful for our partnership with Gateway Technical College. We will continue to explore opportunities with Gateway and our technical college partners that support students’ career goals and the Wisconsin workforce,” Frank added.
Gateway had forged 11 transfer agreements with UW-Stout prior to today’s two new agreements.
