Gateway Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater today celebrated an agreement that will provide a direct path for Gateway Liberal Arts graduates to be admitted to the four-year university.
The agreement applies specifically to Gateway graduates who have earned a degree in the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science. Up to 72 credits will be accepted by UW-Whitewater. The agreement will provide Gateway graduates yet another option to continue their education.
“Gateway Technical College is excited to partner with UW-Whitewater in a direct admission agreement,” said Gateway Technical College President and CEO Ritu Raju. “Our goal is to offer students in our region multiple seamless transfer options to complete their education.
“UW-Whitewater is a strong educational partner and aligns closely with Gateway's mission of providing accessible education. This partnership, like all our direct admissions agreements, this represents a win-win for students and families in Southeastern Wisconsin.”
Qualifying Gateway graduates can start applying for the transfer agreement beginning in the 2024-25 Academic Year.
“With this new partnership, qualifying students at Gateway Technical College will be guaranteed admission to UW-Whitewater to pursue a high-quality and affordable bachelor’s degree,” said UW-Whitewater Chancellor Corey A. King.
“We know that degree attainment is life-changing. It opens doors to career opportunities and higher salaries, and it can transform communities for the better. This guaranteed transfer agreement is another example of UW-Whitewater’s dedication to offering pathways for students to achieve their educational goals.”
Students will collaborate with their Gateway academic adviser to create a personalized transfer plan, ensuring a smooth transition to UW-Whitewater by coordinating with college officials there on their specific program of study.
