Gateway Technical College’s Interior Design student organization’s Eleventh Annual Chair-ity Auction will feature a live auction of one-of-a-kind, student-designed chairs Nov. 22 at the Southport Beach House, 7825 Third Ave., Kenosha.
The event begins at 6 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. The student-designed chairs will be auctioned live beginning at 7 p.m. The Cruise-o-matics will perform live music at the event.
Students acquire chairs from thrift stores, rummage sales, friends and family, and give them new life and use. They reupholster, paint, decoupage, stencil and adorn the chairs until they look much different than they did when new. They are then themed and named before being auctioned.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Autism Solution Pieces and the Gateway Student Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers, to be used for advanced learning opportunities. Tickets are available at the event, $10 for general admission, $5 for ASID members and Gateway students with their student identification.
