Gateway Technical College’s United Student Government will hold a drive-in style movie night featuring “Cars” and “Fast and Furious 6” beginning at about 7:45 p.m. Sept. 6 near the Conference Center on the college’s Kenosha Campus, 3520-30th Ave.
Cost is $5 per car for Gateway students, $10 for general members of the public, and the lot will open to vehicles beginning at 6:30 p.m., with the first movie, “Cars,” beginning at dusk, or about 7:45 p.m. There will also be children’s activities prior to the movie, including a coloring contest and some piñata fun.
The movie will be shown on a large screen on an open field area field just northeast of the Conference Center if weather permits, or in the Madrigrano Auditorium inside the Conference Center in case of inclement weather.
Those attending can watch the movie from their vehicle or bring lawn chairs to be set up in a specified area. Sound is projected through speakers.
USG members decided to hold the drive-in movies as a way to reach out to students and the community by hosting a welcome-back-to-school event. Gateway begins its Fall 2013 semester on Sept. 3.
Concessions will be available for purchase. Money raised at the event will be a gift to the Gateway Technical College Foundation Inc. to benefit Gateway students.
