Gateway Technical College will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new Nature Knowledge Trail 3 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. June 30 at the Center for Sustainable Living on the college’s Kenosha Campus, 3520-30th Ave.
A program will be held at 3:30 p.m.
“The Nature Discovery Trail has always been a highlight for students who visit the center, as many of them do not experience nature up close very often,” said center program manager Kallie Chittenden. “Adding the informational signs and activities will encourage visitors to learn about and enjoy nature and the environment in a way not always possible in urban settings.”
The trail weaves through a mixture of grass and forested area near the Center for Sustainable Living. Several signs are posted along the way to give walkers information on the birds, insects and trees along the trail, as well as insight into solar energy and other environmental topics.
The trail is being supported through funding by Joseph Jr. and Kathy Madrigrano, as well as the Kloss Foundation.
