How a student will pay for college is one of the many important questions today’s students need to address.
Gateway Technical College realizes this, and is one of the host sites for College Goal Wisconsin, an effort which can help students and potential students navigate the financial aid process with hands-on help by providing access to free information and financial aid experts.
The Gateway events will be held.
- 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Center for Bioscience and Information Technology on the Kenosha Campus, 3520-30th Ave.
- It will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 25 in the Conference Center of the Racine Campus, 1001 S. Main St.
- It will be held 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 28 in the North Building of the Elkhorn Campus, 400 County Road H
College Goal Wisconsin is an event designed to be an approachable way of learning how to apply for financial aid and get individual assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the federally required form for students seeking financial aid such as grants and loans. Students and parents are encouraged to attend together, where needed.
Things to bring:
Identification
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license (if you have one)
- Your alien registration or permanent resident card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
- Date of birth
- Parents’ month and year of marriage, divorce or separation
Income information and tax forms
- 2014 W-2, recent pay stub, or 2013 tax return and other records of money earned
Note: You don’t have to wait until after you file your taxes. You are allowed to use estimates or 2014 Federal Income Tax Return (and your spouse’s, if you are married) IRS, 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ Foreign Tax Return, or Tax Return for Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Federal States of Micronesia, or Palau
- 2014 untaxed income records Veterans non-education benefit records
- Child support received
Statements and records
- Information on savings, investments, business assets and farm assets (if applicable)
All students are eligible to apply for financial aid. Financial aid may come in the form of grants, loans, work study, and other assistance.
