Gateway Technical College will hold the grand opening of its new Kenall Protective Services Training Center, 10:30 a.m. April 28 at its Kenosha Campus, 3520-30th Ave.
The program will be held at 11 a.m., and demonstrations and tours will follow.
The center will provide a state-of-the-art training site for Gateway’s law enforcement academy, as well as professional and ongoing training for area law enforcement agencies. It includes newly remodeled tactical training areas, added classrooms, a 12-lane shooting range and a crime scene investigation lab. One of the classrooms has a Life Size videoconferencing unit to allow for remote training and video conferencing. A house on the edge of campus will be used for scenario-based training.
The training center consists of remodeling done to existing space as well expanding the Technical Building on the campus’ southwest corner for the shooting range.
Gateway Technical College during its November 2016 board of trustees meeting named the Kenall Protective Services Training Center in recognition of the company’s donation of $250,000 to the Gateway Promise program. The center and other specific training sites will also provide demonstrations of situation-appropriate lighting solutions.
