Partnerships between Gateway Technical College and four-year institutions have given students the option of building on their Gateway education to gain the added skills and education of a bachelor’s degree – and beyond.
A partnership between Gateway and Upper Iowa University has provided students at the college with this opportunity for 15 years – and that bond will be honored at an open house reception and celebration hosted by Upper Iowa from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at its Milwaukee Center, 620 S. 76th Street, West Allis.
“Gateway is proud of our partnership with Upper Iowa University,” said Gateway Technical College CEO and President Bryan Albrecht. “Creating affordable pathways for advanced education allows students to work and study close to home.
“Gateway’s partnership with Upper Iowa adds to the economic security of Southeastern Wisconsin by increasing the educational attainment of adult learners.”
“For the past 25 years, Upper Iowa University has offered students throughout Southeastern Wisconsin an opportunity to achieve their higher educational goals without having to travel outside of their communities,” said UIU-Milwaukee and Elkhorn Center Director Marshall Whitlock.
Upper Iowa has provided educational opportunities at Gateway’s Elkhorn Campus for 15 years and, during that time, has expanded to the college’s Racine Campus and Kenosha Campus as well. It has also provided educational opportunities for students at its Milwaukee Center for the past 25 years.
Students gain the ability to complete their bachelor’s degree on Gateway’s campus, which is familiar and convenient. They have access to Gateway’s learning resources – library and tutoring – as well as the online resources of UIU. Upper Iowa also accepts all Gateway credits, so graduates who transfer to UIU begin as juniors.
Details of the transfer agreement can be found at: www.gtc.edu/transfer.
Upper Iowa University, founded in 1857, is a private, not-for-profit university providing undergraduate and graduate degree programs to students nationally and internationally.
