Gateway Technical College is the first in the country to roll out a new transportation-related national certification training program. The program will be unveiled during an announcement at 10:30 a.m. July 16 at Gateway Technical College’s Horizon Center for Transportation, 4940 88th Ave. (Highway H), Kenosha, Wis.
The announcement will be made by John Fox, director of training at FCA (Fiat-Chrysler). He will be joined at the podium by the following speakers:
- Eric Seleznow, Assistant Secretary, Employment and Training Division, U.S. Department of Labor
- Reggie Newson, Secretary, Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development
- Andy Palmen CEO, Palmen Group
- Roger Tadajewski, Executive Director, National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3).
The program keynote address will be made by Nick Pinchuk, Chairman and CEO, Snap-on Incorporated.
Lunch and tours of recently installed, state-of-the-art equipment at Horizon Center follow the presentations.
The announcement event is being held in conjunction with a weeklong NC3-sponsored certification event. The program is specifically a component of its leadership summit, bringing together its industry and education members’ decision-makers. At the same time, the organization’s train-the-trainer event attracts more than 100 transportation and energy instructors from throughout the country to Gateway Technical College facilities to become certified so they can then offer training leading to certification to students at their own colleges or high schools.
