Gateway Technical College and WRTP/BIG STEP will hold an open house 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 5 at the college’s SC Johnson integrated Manufacturing and Engineering Technology Center, 2320 Renaissance Blvd., Sturtevant, for those interesting in enrolling in a newly created road building training program.
The intense, 20-day program will be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays June 11 through July 3 at no charge to those who are accepted into the TrANS+ program. Completers will have the skills to be hired full-time at an area road building construction company in a very in-demand career field. They will also earn seven Gateway credits which they can then use toward earning an entire Gateway Civil Engineering Technology - Highway Technology degree.
TrANS+ represents an initiative between WTRP/BIG STEP and Gateway where three core classes from the Civil Engineering Technology program are incorporated with the training from WTRP/BIG STEP’s TrANS program.
