Looking for fun and educational activities for your middle-schooler during the summer months? Do you want them to learn about today’s important environmental issues – in a hands-on, interactive way?
Gateway Technical College has announced its Youth Leaders in Sustainability summer camp, a four-day event which provides students who’ve this year completed sixth through eighth grades a way to engage in the “green” issues of the day. Experienced Gateway instructors and other local experts will lead exploratory, hands-on activities in areas of water and resource conservation, forestry, bird ecology, urban farming, horticulture, environmental technologies and hands-on service learning projects.
Specifically, campers will build a solar car, learn how to plant and care for vegetables and build a freshwater filtration system, among many other activities.
