WGTD Radio Theater will present three episodes of its classic shows to celebrate this back-to-school time of year beginning at 11:15 a.m. August 24 in front of a studio audience in Room 120 of Gateway’s Center for Bioscience and Information Technology on the Kenosha Campus, 3520-30th Ave.
Admission is free, but audience members are encouraged to arrive early, by 10:45 a.m.
First up will be “Our Miss Brooks!” Principal Conklin is paying close attention to the standardized test scores, Walter Denton is paying close attention to the audio-visual equipment, and Connie Brooks is paying very close attention to Mr. Boynton. Carolyn Recker stars as Miss Brooks, John O’Leksy as Mr. Conklin, and Alex Campea as Walter.
Then, Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica and the gang start another year at Riverdale High School in “The Adventures of Archie Andrews.” Cameron Spencer stars as Archie.
And, Bernice goes to night school in “It’s the Professor!” Siegfried Christoph is the Professor and Susan Lien is Bernice.
Other stars include Gary Stamm, Terry Meyers, Julie Burton, Naomi Waisman-Zabler and Todd Eaves.
“We’re also adding a lot of great classic 50’s style music into the show,” said writer and producer, Steve Brown. “Doo-wop music from the 1950’s has become a popular feature on WGTD-HD3 since we added ‘The Doo Wop Stop’ hosted by Cool Bobby B and we thought we’d add it to the radio theater.”
In addition to being aired over WGTD, the program will also be streamed live online at WGTD.org. WGTD can be heard in Racine and Kenosha counties at 91.1 FM, in the Elkhorn area at 101.7 FM, and in the Lake Geneva area at 103.3 FM.
